The Central Bank of Cyprus published updated aggregated data on the Cyprus banking sector’s non-performing loans, with a reference date of 28 February 2025. The Non-Performing Loans (NPLs) ratio edged down to 6.2% at end-February 2025 from 6.3% at end-January 2025. The central bank attributed the marginal decline mainly to repayments, positive movements in the Served Categories, write-offs and exchange rate fluctuations. The coverage ratio of non-performing exposures (NPEs) with default provisions increased to 58.9% from 58.3% over the same period. Restructured total loans to Licensed Credit Institutions stood at EUR 1.3 billion, of which EUR 0.7 billion remained included in NPEs.
