The Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) has published the 2025 list of UK headquartered global systemically important institutions (G-SIIs), including each firm’s sub-category allocation, applicable score and G-SII buffer rate. The disclosed G-SII buffers will apply from 1 January 2027. HSBC Holdings Plc is allocated to sub-category 3 with a score of 389 and a 2% G-SII buffer rate. Barclays Plc is allocated to sub-category 2 with a score of 291 and a 1.5% buffer rate, while Standard Chartered Plc is allocated to sub-category 1 with a score of 142 and a 1% buffer rate. The disclosure is made under the Capital Requirements (Capital Buffers and Macro-prudential Measures) Regulations 2025 (SI 2025/653). The PRA will update the list of G-SIIs and their sub-category allocations annually.
