The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) issued an alert about a fraudulent website and an internet banking login screen linked to Fubon Bank (Hong Kong) Limited, referencing a related bank press release available via hyperlink on the HKMA website. The HKMA reminded the public that banks will not send SMS messages or emails containing embedded hyperlinks directing customers to bank websites to carry out transactions, and will not request sensitive personal information such as login passwords or One-Time Passwords by phone, email, or SMS (including via embedded hyperlinks). Anyone who has provided personal information or conducted financial transactions through or in response to the fraudulent website or login screen is advised to contact the bank using official details provided in the bank’s press release and report the matter to the Police.
