The Central Bank of Bahrain chaired the 32nd meeting of the GCC Heads of Capital Market Authorities Committee, which reviewed progress on regional capital market integration. The meeting focused on member states’ completion of internal procedures needed to implement the Cross-Border Registration Regulation for Investment Funds and followed up on initiatives assigned to the GCC Capital Markets Committee. The committee also considered a mechanism for exchanging expertise among GCC authorities and a feasibility study on making investment account opening requirements and the Know Your Customer form mandatory. Additional studies addressed capital markets workforce capacity and the use of artificial intelligence in securities markets, while periodic reports covered investor awareness programs and broader regulatory coordination initiatives.
