The National Bank of Moldova published aggregate foreign exchange exposure data for licensed banks for July 2026. At month-end, foreign exchange assets totaled MDL 58.095 billion and foreign exchange liabilities stood at MDL 57.868 billion. Reported long open positions totaled MDL 444.0 million, while short open positions amounted to MDL 216.4 million, against total regulatory capital of MDL 26.508 billion. The euro accounted for MDL 373.4 million of long positions, equivalent to 1.41% of regulatory capital, and MDL 99.1 million of short positions, equivalent to negative 0.37%. U.S. dollar positions included MDL 34.3 million long and MDL 90.4 million short, corresponding to 0.13% and negative 0.34% of regulatory capital, respectively. The figures cover balance-sheet and off-balance-sheet exposures, including Moldovan leu assets and liabilities linked to foreign exchange rates.
