The Austrian Ministry of Finance and Oesterreichische Kontrollbank AG (OeKB) have expanded public financing support for energy infrastructure to transmission and distribution networks and storage projects with investment volumes starting at EUR 2 million. Together with the existing Exportinvest EVU program for projects of at least EUR 100 million, the programs initially provide EUR 2 billion in guarantees and financing. The government will also assume up to 80% of the risk on long-term mezzanine capital for grid investments under the Export Promotion Act, reducing the cost of subordinated funding for network operators. OeKB has already approved more than EUR 300 million through Exportinvest EVU and expects financing to exceed EUR 1 billion in the coming months based on projects nearing completion and ongoing discussions.
