The Insurance State Supervision Service of Georgia held an educational meeting with graduating students at Kutaisi No41 Public School of Physics and Mathematics as part of Insurance Day week activities in the Kutaisi region, focusing on the role of insurance for consumers and the actuarial profession. The session included a presentation by Ana Kharatishvili, President of the Insurance State Supervision Service of Georgia and President of the Association of Actuarial and Financial Analysts, covering the history and core concepts of insurance, the role of actuaries in insurance, and types of insurance. Students also received information on the development of the actuarial profession, what actuaries do, and the work and educational activities of the International Association of Actuaries and the Association of Actuaries and Financial Analysts, followed by a Q&A. The Service linked the outreach to Georgia’s Insurance Day, first celebrated on May 2, 2022, and to the signing of the country’s first Law on Insurance on May 2, 1997, described as part of the National Financial Education Strategy with involvement from the insurance sector and support from the Georgian Insurance Companies Association.
