In a speech at the 12th Latam Economic Forum, Argentina's Economy Minister Luis Caputo said the disinflation trend is continuing, citing April inflation of 2.6%, the lowest since November 2025, and saying May inflation is expected to be lower still. He also said the latest reduction in export duties on agriculture and industry, together with the implementation of FAL, would bring total tax cuts close to 3 percentage points of GDP. Caputo added that REM and market expectations for the next 12 months are around 20% and pointed to a wider set of indicators that he said supported that view, including a 1.1% April increase in the basic basket, the lowest since August 2025, goods exports of nearly USD 9 billion, record agro-industrial and industrial exports, a record energy trade surplus, and the highest SME exports in 13 years. He also cited a record harvest of 163 million tonnes, 17.9 million air passengers in the first four months, and the EMAE economic activity index at a historic high.
