The Czech National Bank plans to issue three new banknotes. These include a CZK 5,000 circulating banknote with an added holographic print in September 2026 and two commemorative CZK 100 banknotes in late 2027 or early 2028. The CZK 5,000 note will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the National Bank of Czechoslovakia, and the added print will not change the underlying 2023 banknote design or its status as legal tender in the Czech Republic. A total of 200,000 of the CZK 5,000 notes will be available from 22 September 2026 at the Czech National Bank's cash offices in Prague, Brno, Hradec Králové and Ostrava while stocks last, with members of the public able to exchange other banknotes or coins with a total face value of CZK 5,000. The commemorative CZK 100 banknotes will mark the 35th anniversary of Václav Havel's first election as President of the Czech Republic, with a print run of 35,000, and the 100th anniversary of the commencement of operations at the Banknote Printing Works of the National Bank of Czechoslovakia in Prague, with a print run of 20,000. Those commemorative notes will be sold through the Czech National Bank's contractual partners authorized to sell numismatic material, and their sale price will differ from face value. Details of the exchange procedure and design for the CZK 5,000 banknote will be published in September 2026. The issue dates for the commemorative CZK 100 banknotes will be announced in advance on the Czech National Bank website's Numismatics section.
