The Egypt Financial Regulatory Authority approved four companies to conduct nonbank financial activities spanning health care program administration, debt collection and securities trading. Al Ahly Health Services received a temporary license to act as a third-party administrator under the Unified Insurance Law and the authority’s regulatory framework, bringing the total number of temporary TPA licensees to nine. One company is also licensed for specialized health maintenance organization activity. The Egyptian Company for Services and Collection became the third firm registered to collect financial receivables for nonbank finance companies and entities, while applications from more than 30 other companies are under review. Prime Brokerage was approved to trade government securities and financial instruments in the secondary market, and Arabeya Online Brokerage was cleared to trade global depositary receipts corresponding to securities listed on the Egyptian Exchange.
