The Central Bank of the Philippines issued a memorandum tightening security procedures for Authorized Agent Banks (AABs) and their representatives entering and exiting the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Security Plant Complex (BSP-SPC) in Quezon City, citing a rise in security infractions including incidents involving bullets and personal firearms in loading bay areas. The enhanced protocols apply to personnel and armored vehicles using Gate 2 (vehicle gate along East Avenue), with non-compliance potentially resulting in denial of access. Under the strengthened screening, Security Services Department personnel may inspect an armored vehicle’s vault compartment during entry checks and may also inspect the vehicle underchassis to identify concealed hazards. During exit screening, personnel may be required to open the vault compartment again to verify that BSP or bank property is not being removed without proper authorization. AABs are directed to keep the interior of armored vehicles free of obstructions that could impede opening of the vault compartment to avoid delays and possible denial of entry.
