The Central Bank of Russia published updated payment statistics showing that cashless transactions for goods and services increased by 13% year on year in 2025 Q3, reaching an average of 243 million payments per day, or over 2,800 transactions per second. Growth in card payments lagged other cashless methods. Non-card instruments including biometric payments, QR codes and other methods accounted for 14% of all purchases, up 4.5 percentage points year on year. The data also show continued expansion in payment acceptance infrastructure, with banks increasing the number of payment terminals in retail outlets across Russia by more than 500,000 as of 1 October 2025 compared with 1 October 2024.
