The Bank of the Lao PDR published an update on a meeting with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) macroeconomic assessment mission for Lao PDR, covering preparations for the IMF’s 2025 annual Article IV consultation and discussions on potential IMF technical assistance linked to maintaining financial stability. The central bank’s Deputy Governor, Sulisack Thanuvong, received IMF mission head Angana Banerji and colleagues, including representatives from the IMF’s resident office in Lao PDR. The visit served as an introductory engagement following Banerji’s appointment to replace the previous mission head, and included presentation of the planned work programme. The IMF team was scheduled to conduct in-country work with the Bank of the Lao PDR and other relevant stakeholders from 22 to 24 January 2025.
