The Angola Capital Markets Commission participated in the Forum on the Impact of the Financial Sector on Local Content and used the event to promote the capital market as an alternative route for financing projects by oil sector and local content companies. The commission was represented by Executive Administrator Vasco Januário. The forum, promoted by Global Services Corporation with support from the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas and the National Agency of Oil, Gas and Biofuels, brought together financial sector and local content stakeholders with a focus on regulation and the promotion of domestic initiatives. On a panel on financial sector support to oil companies, Januário cited Sonangol’s corporate bond issuance and Etu Energias’ recent commercial paper issuance as examples of transactions structured in Angola’s capital market by CMC-registered Securities Distribution Companies (Sociedades Distribuidoras de Valores Mobiliários, SDVM), and encouraged firms to work with intermediaries, particularly SDVM, to structure market-based financing solutions.
