The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has sworn in Paul S. Atkins as its 34th Chairman, completing his appointment following nomination by President Donald J. Trump and confirmation by the U.S. Senate. Atkins was nominated on January 20, 2025 and confirmed on April 9, 2025. He most recently served as chief executive of Patomak Global Partners, which he founded in 2009, and previously served as an SEC Commissioner from 2002 to 2008. His prior roles also include serving as an independent director and non-executive chairman of BATS Global Markets, Inc. (2012–2015) and membership on the Congressional Oversight Panel for the Troubled Asset Relief Program (2009–2010).
