The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and National Supervisory Commission inspection team stationed at the National Financial Regulatory Administration (NFRA), together with Hubei provincial authorities, concluded a disciplinary and supervisory investigation into Liu Wei, a former first-level inspector in the NFRA’s Institution Recovery and Disposal Department. The process resulted in his expulsion from the Communist Party, dismissal from public office, confiscation of illicit gains, and referral of the suspected criminal case to prosecutors. Investigators found Liu had violated organisational and integrity discipline, including using his position to secure personnel-related benefits for others, borrowing funds from regulated or serviced parties, and having others pay expenses that should have been borne by him. He was also found to have used his role to seek benefits for others in areas such as bank lending, share transfers, engagement of liquidation audit services, and staff recruitment, while illegally accepting a “huge” amount of property, constituting suspected bribery. The Xiangyang Municipal Supervisory Commission in Hubei decided to transfer the suspected criminal matter to the procuratorate for review and prosecution, with the related assets transferred with the case.
