The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, in cooperation with the World Bank’s Centre for Financial Reporting Reform and Sustainability (CFRR), organised a preparatory workshop on strengthening financial reporting in the insurance sector, including implementation of International Financial Reporting Standard 17 (IFRS 17) Insurance Contracts. The event positions IFRS 17, alongside Solvency II requirements, as a major reform package expected to start implementation from 2026. The workshop focused on building the professional capacity of the central bank, insurance companies and other relevant authorities through practical knowledge exchange and experience sharing with local and international experts, including a World Bank-engaged international consultant. Participants included representatives from Albania’s Financial Supervisory Authority, the Kosovo Council for Financial Reporting, insurance companies, certified accountant associations and Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo staff, with support delivered through the World Bank-backed EAASURE programme and contributing institutions.
