The State Bank of Vietnam has issued a decision transferring and appointing Hoang Thi Phuong Hanh as a member of the Board of Directors of Deposit Insurance of Vietnam for a five-year term, effective from 21 October 2025. Ms Hanh was serving as Acting Director General of the State Bank of Vietnam’s International Cooperation Department. The appointment was announced at a conference co-hosted by Deposit Insurance of Vietnam and the State Bank of Vietnam’s Personnel and Organization Department, attended by Deputy Governor Nguyen Ngoc Canh, who framed the move as part of a broader staff rotation and reinforcement approach for entities under the central bank’s oversight. At the same event, Deputy Governor Canh indicated that the Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam will submit a revised Deposit Insurance Law to the National Assembly, with changes expected to expand Deposit Insurance of Vietnam’s role beyond traditional deposit insurance to include coordination and supervision of People’s Credit Funds and participation in their restructuring. Deposit Insurance of Vietnam was also tasked with preparing plans aligned to the new law and supporting the development of detailed implementing circulars.
