In remarks at the Institute of Banking and Finance Distinction Evening 2026, the Monetary Authority of Singapore outlined expanded efforts to prepare the financial sector workforce for artificial intelligence and support workers as roles change. The Institute of Banking and Finance has accredited nearly 60 AI programs and, with industry and education partners, launched function-specific training on responsible AI use that reflects financial sector use cases and MAS guidelines. The workforce measures also include foundational AI training and career transition support. For new entrants, around 1,000 internship and traineeship opportunities from 20 financial institutions will be available over the next year, alongside efforts to incorporate more industry perspectives and real-world applications into education curricula. These initiatives extend the sector’s broader work to strengthen education-to-employment pathways and build AI capabilities among young talent.
