The Bank of Italy and the European Central Bank have invited completed papers for the fifth conference on trade, value chains and financial linkages in the global economy, to be held in Rome on Oct. 29-30, 2026. The event will examine recent developments in international trade, global production networks and financial linkages, as well as their macroeconomic implications. Submissions may cover trade and industrial policies, the reconfiguration of global production networks and access to critical supplies, trade finance, digital trade and artificial intelligence, and global imbalances. Papers addressing recent trade policy shifts, geopolitical disruption to trade routes and energy markets, and the implications of artificial intelligence for goods and services trade are particularly encouraged. Completed papers are due by Sept. 11, 2026, with acceptance decisions to be communicated by Sept. 21.
