At a Youth Talk held as part of Karya Kreatif Indonesia 2026, Bank Indonesia emphasized the role of younger generations in renewing micro, small and medium enterprises, particularly in traditional textiles, handicrafts and other skills- and culture-based sectors. Deputy Governor Thomas A.M. Djiwandono called for established knowledge and values to be combined with young entrepreneurs’ digital capabilities and new perspectives. Gen Z and Millennials represent 49.27% of Indonesia’s population and 63% of its creative economy workforce. The initiative advances Bank Indonesia’s 2026 integrated MSME entrepreneurship transformation program through capacity building, innovation support and wider financing access. Its Citra Nusa traditional textile innovation competition involves 580 selected MSMEs, most led by young entrepreneurs, and aims to improve product quality, market access and supply chain integration. Bank Indonesia has also provided marketplace management training and expanded domestic and international marketing support for 2,156 MSMEs, alongside assistance with green business practices. These measures complement government cooperation under Phase I of the 2026-2029 Creative Economy Action Plan, covering financing, infrastructure, marketing and incentives.
