The Reserve Bank of Fiji has gazetted the old-design flora and fauna banknotes for demonetisation from Jan. 1, 2027, following the introduction of new polymer banknotes on Jan. 2, 2026. Businesses will no longer be required to accept the old notes for goods and services after Dec. 31, 2026. As of July 31, 2026, 72.3% of the old banknotes in circulation had been recalled. After Dec. 31, 2026, only the Reserve Bank of Fiji will provide value for the old notes.

The Reserve Bank of Fiji will demonetise old flora and fauna banknotes from Jan. 1, 2027, and businesses will not be required to accept them after Dec. 31, 2026. The central bank had recalled 72.3% of the old notes by July 31 and will remain the only institution providing value for them after the deadline.
