Astana Financial Services Authority (AFSA) took part in an Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) panel at the Astana International Financial Centre on mobilizing finance for sustainable infrastructure, with discussion centred on boosting investment in resilient infrastructure and green projects in Kazakhstan and drawing in private capital. The event, convened with Kazakhstan’s Ministries of National Economy and Transport and market participants, examined how AIIB could expand its investment activity in Kazakhstan and Central Asia, and how multilateral development banks, commercial banks and asset managers can collaborate on infrastructure and green financing. ESG standards were highlighted as increasingly central to responsible infrastructure investment. In opening remarks, AFSA Chief Executive Officer Evgeniya Bogdanova said AFSA is continuing to strengthen its supervisory approach and market integrity work and to create space for new financial products, particularly those linked to sustainability and climate resilience. The panel was part of lead-up programming for the AIIB Board of Governors’ tenth Annual Meeting, scheduled for June 24-26, 2025 in Beijing.
