The Moroccan Insurance Authority (ACAPS) and the Moroccan Insurance Federation (FMA) have signed a charter committing the insurance sector to integrate gender considerations into the development and marketing of insurance products, with the aim of improving women’s access to insurance cover tailored to their needs. The charter sets commitments for insurance market participants to collect, analyse and use gender-disaggregated data to identify and reduce disparities in access to insurance products, to tailor existing products and develop new products that reflect women’s specific characteristics and needs, and to implement awareness-raising and training campaigns for insurance intermediaries and policyholders on gender equity in insurance. ACAPS will support implementation through regular monitoring and the promotion of good practices, while ensuring products are adapted to women’s specific needs. A monitoring committee comprising representatives of ACAPS, the FMA and the signatory companies will periodically assess progress and make recommendations.
