The European Central Bank published its weekly statement of assets and liabilities, reporting total assets of EUR 6,287,780m, down EUR 31,751m from the previous week due to transactions. On the asset side, securities of euro area residents denominated in euro decreased by EUR 15,025m, driven by a EUR 16,607m fall in securities held for monetary policy purposes. Lending to euro area credit institutions related to monetary policy operations fell by EUR 4,665m, reflecting a EUR 4,486m reduction in main refinancing operations, while other claims on euro area credit institutions declined by EUR 4,490m. On the liability side, monetary policy-related liabilities to euro area credit institutions rose by EUR 19,006m as current accounts increased by EUR 37,903m and the deposit facility decreased by EUR 18,897m; liabilities to other euro area residents fell by EUR 29,349m, mainly due to a EUR 28,635m decline in general government deposits.
