Mexico’s National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Users of Financial Services published data showing that it handled 2,663 complaints in Colima from January through August 2026, up 9.5% from the previous year and representing 1.4% of complaints nationwide. Completed cases recovered MXN 26.4 million for users, while 52.9% of outcomes were favorable to users. The multiple banking sector accounted for 65.1% of complaints, followed by insurers at 10% and credit information companies at 8.4%. Unrecognized purchases, unaddressed product or service cancellation requests and unrecognized electronic transfers represented 54.5% of multiple banking complaints. Credit cards, debit cards and personal loans were linked to 76% of all complaints, while 34.7% of cases involved possible fraud. Electronic case management was used for 68.8% of complaints, with 12.5% proceeding to conciliation and 10% concerning improper debt collection practices.
