The U.S. Department of Justice announced that Travis Ford, CEO and co-founder of Wolf Capital Crypto Trading LLC, was sentenced to 60 months in prison for his role in a cryptocurrency investment fraud conspiracy that raised approximately USD 9.4 million from about 2,800 investors. The court also ordered over USD 1 million in forfeiture and over USD 170,000 in restitution. According to court documents and admissions, from at least January 2023 through at least August 2023 Ford solicited investments via the company’s website and other online promotions, promising returns of 1–2% per day (approximately 547% per year) while admitting in his guilty plea that such consistent returns were not achievable. Investor funds were allegedly misappropriated and diverted to benefit Ford and his co-conspirators; Ford pleaded guilty in January 2025 to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is investigating the case and the Justice Department’s Fraud Section is prosecuting.
