The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) announced a new organizational framework for bank supervision and a revised structure for its Office of the Chief National Bank Examiner, effective 1 October. The changes replace the existing Bank Supervision and Examination group with three supervision lines of business and streamline reporting and functional divisions within the Chief National Bank Examiner office. Under the new model, the OCC will supervise banks through Large and Global Financial Institutions, Regional and Midsize Financial Institutions, and Community Banks, each led by a Senior Deputy Comptroller reporting to the Comptroller of the Currency. Large and Global Financial Institutions will cover institutions with assets over USD 500 billion and those with a foreign parent and will be led by Greg Coleman; Regional and Midsize Financial Institutions will supervise institutions with USD 30 billion to USD 500 billion in assets, and Community Banks will supervise institutions with up to USD 30 billion in assets, with acting Senior Deputy Comptrollers for the latter two groups to be selected in early October. The Office of the Chief National Bank Examiner will be organized into five divisions reporting to Senior Deputy Comptroller and Chief National Bank Examiner Jay Gallagher: Supervision Systems and Analytical Support, Credit Risk, Compliance and Operational Risk, Economics, and Capital, Market Risk and Asset Management. The Office of Financial Technology will report directly to Gallagher.
