The Brazilian Superintendence of Private Insurance (SUSEP) participated in a Rio de Janeiro event on the new Mutualist Property Protection system and its legal and regulatory challenges, coinciding with the publication of Public Consultation Notice No. 2/2025 to collect input on the forthcoming regulatory framework for these operations. SUSEP was represented by Director Airton Almeida and Coordinator-General Cesar Neves at the meeting organised by the National Confederation of Mutuals of Brazil. Discussions focused on the challenges and responsibilities of mutualist entities following their regularisation with SUSEP, including associations’ new operating model, alignment with supervisory rules, legal issues related to suspended court proceedings, and the implications of entering the regulated segment. The release also linked the regulation of Complementary Law No. 213/2025 to the institutional and market strategy supporting Brazil’s National Policy for Access to Insurance, which includes expanding the private insurance market.
