The Central Bank of Peru published data showing that total credit to the private sector accelerated for a ninth consecutive month, reaching 7.2% year on year in January 2026. On a month-on-month basis, outstanding balances rose 0.2% compared with December 2025 to PEN 437,785 million. By segment, credit to individuals grew 6.8% year on year and credit to companies increased 7.4%. Monthly growth was 0.3% for individuals and 0.2% for companies, with company credit excluding Reactiva also up 0.2%. By currency, credit in soles increased 5.4% year on year, while foreign currency credit grew 13.6%.
