The Hong Kong Monetary Authority released Hong Kong’s latest official foreign currency reserve assets figures, reporting USD 421.6 billion as at end-August 2025, down from USD 425.4 billion at end-July 2025. Including unsettled foreign exchange contracts, the figure stood at USD 421.1 billion, compared with USD 424.5 billion a month earlier. The official reserve assets total of USD 421.6 billion was over five times the currency in circulation and equivalent to about 37% of Hong Kong dollar M3. HKMA also set out its Exchange Fund data release schedule, noting it issues four related press releases each month, including three under the International Monetary Fund’s Special Data Dissemination Standard. For September 2025, further releases are scheduled for 12 September (Analytical Accounts of the Exchange Fund) and 30 September (SDDS Template on International Reserves and Foreign Currency Liquidity, and the Exchange Fund Abridged Balance Sheet and Currency Board Account).
