The National Bank of Georgia reported that Governor Natia Turnava met Industrial and Commercial Bank of China President Lin Liao on the sidelines of a symposium in Shanghai to review existing cooperation and discuss how to expand it. The talks focused on closer cooperation in trading Chinese securities, investing in China’s bond market, and assessing trends and prospects in international financial markets. ICBC has already played a role in Georgia’s market funding activity through the issuance of Georgia’s sovereign Eurobond, the syndication of treasury securities and participation in regular auctions. The bank is also active in investment banking, including primary and secondary markets for developing countries’ treasury bonds, and has about USD 7.6 trillion in assets with operations in 49 countries.
