The National Bank of Moldova has outlined discussions with International Monetary Fund and World Bank Group officials at their annual meetings, centered on Moldova’s macroeconomic outlook, monetary and anti-inflation policy, financial stability and EU accession reforms. A key focus is the proposed three-year, nonfinancial IMF Policy Coordination Instrument, on which Moldova and IMF staff reached agreement in May 2026, as the country seeks to reinforce macroeconomic stability and support access to other financing sources. The agenda also covers implementation of recommendations from the 2025 Financial Sector Assessment Program, the central bank’s independence and financial sector resilience. The delegation will present progress on digital financial infrastructure and financial inclusion, as well as the National Bank’s role in the reform agenda linked to Moldova’s 2025-2027 Growth Plan. These discussions continue the bank’s work to align financial legislation and supervision with the EU acquis and international standards.
