The National Bank of Moldova published monetary statistics for August 2026 showing that the monetary base increased 2 percent from July to MDL 86.337 billion. Bank deposits grew 0.6 percent to MDL 149.746 billion, reflecting increases of 0.2 percent in national currency deposits and 1.4 percent in foreign currency deposits. Claims on the economy rose 1.5 percent to MDL 120.065 billion, with national currency claims up 1.6 percent and foreign currency claims, expressed in MDL, up 1.1 percent. Foreign currency claims totaled EUR 1.416 billion, an increase of 0.9 percent from July.
