The Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Bank of Slovakia to strengthen the institutional and legal basis for cooperation and promote exchanges of central banking expertise. The agreement follows discussions in July 2026 on closer institutional ties and cooperation in financial regulation and supervision. The memorandum envisages cooperation on monetary policy, payment systems and financial technology, as well as regulation and supervision of banking, insurance and capital markets. It was signed following a meeting between Azerbaijan central bank Governor Taleh Kazimov and National Bank of Slovakia Governor Peter Kažimír during the World Bank and International Monetary Fund Annual Meetings.
