The Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) has extended the comment period for its consultation on a framework for an independent dispute resolution service for investor complaints with binding authority, anticipated to be the Ombudsman for Banking Services and Investments (OBSI). The consultation covers the proposed oversight model and refinements to the dispute resolution process. The CSA published the proposed oversight model and process refinements on 15 July 2025. The deadline for comments has been extended by two weeks to 29 September 2025. Implementation of a final framework is contingent on governments in many CSA jurisdictions passing enabling legislation.
