European Central Bank Banking Supervision has published an updated Volume I of its digital compilation of European Union banking supervision legislation. The volume consolidates the foundational legal framework for the Single Supervisory Mechanism, comprising the regulation conferring prudential supervisory tasks on the ECB, the framework governing cooperation with national authorities and the Statute of the European System of Central Banks and of the European Central Bank. The compilation updates the previous April 2021 edition and forms part of a three-volume reference covering supervisory powers, accountability, reporting, fees, sanctions, internal organization and related matters. It is a documentation tool with no legal effect, and the ECB notes that authoritative versions are those published in the Official Journal of the European Union and available through EUR-Lex.
