The Joint Committee on Climate Change, co-chaired by Securities Commission Malaysia and Bank Negara Malaysia, concluded its 2026 Journey to Zero Conference with initiatives to strengthen sustainability expertise, connect financial institutions with universities and move climate and nature projects toward funding. The measures advance JC3’s 2026 focus on mobilizing finance for climate positive projects by addressing practical barriers such as limited project readiness, market capability and relevant data. The Association of Sustainability Professionals, an industry initiative incubated and supported by the commission, is expected to launch by the end of 2026. It intends to recognize and accredit sustainability competencies and raise professional standards. JC3 is also strengthening collaboration with six Malaysian universities through applied research, talent development and practical tools for risk management and financing. Its Climate Finance Innovation Lab continues to help marginally bankable projects become funding ready, with accelerator participants presenting climate and nature solutions to potential funders at the conference.
