The National Bank of Moldova published its monthly statistics on the domestic cash foreign exchange market for February 2026, covering purchases and sales of foreign currency against the Moldovan leu by cash exchange units with individuals. Total turnover amounted to EUR 332.4 million equivalent, comprising EUR 270.0 million of purchases and EUR 62.4 million of sales. The euro accounted for EUR 248.1 million of turnover, or 75.0% of the total, followed by the US dollar at EUR 52.0 million, or 15.3%, and other currencies at EUR 23.2 million, or 7.9%. Overall turnover fell 5.1% from the previous month and was 0.7% lower than in February 2025, with purchases up 5.2% year on year and sales down 20.3%. Euro equivalents are calculated using average official monthly exchange rates of the Moldovan leu against the euro and the relevant foreign currency, and the data are published monthly by the last day of the month following the reporting period.
