Chile's Ministry of Finance convened the annual session of the Advisory Commission for Financial Inclusion (CAPIF) to reinforce cross-government coordination on financial inclusion and education, reviewing progress on the National Financial Education Strategy (ENEF 2025) and agreeing changes to CAPIF’s governance and participation. The commission approved the Taxpayer Ombudsman's Office (Defensoría del Contribuyente, Dedecon) as a permanent guest, bringing a tax perspective to CAPIF’s work and positioning tax education as part of “integral” financial education. CAPIF also validated a proposed governance framework covering operational governance and formalising interministerial and multisector coordination spaces. The ENEF 2025 update presented to members builds on the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) definition of financial education and explicitly incorporates tax and pension education, adapts to a digital and changing environment, and focuses on developing competencies applied to real-life financial decisions. Next steps outlined include launching a report mapping financial education initiatives and programmes, approving and disseminating ENEF 2025, and publishing the monitoring plan for the National Financial Inclusion Strategy (ENIF).
