The Superintendency of Banks of the Dominican Republic published its quarterly performance report for the financial system as of June 2025, showing total assets of DOP 3.971 trillion (53.6% of GDP), up 9% year on year. Credit remained the main balance-sheet component at 58% of assets, with the loan portfolio reaching DOP 2.267 trillion (30.6% of GDP), up 9.2%, while reported indicators pointed to higher credit risk alongside improved capitalisation and continued profitability. Private commercial lending represented 52.3% of the portfolio, followed by consumer lending excluding personal credit cards (22.5%), mortgages (18.3%), personal credit cards (5.4%) and public lending (1.5%). Personal credit card and consumer portfolios grew 16.2% and 3.2%, respectively, with the report noting a slowdown in growth, while mortgages grew 8% and private commercial lending in domestic currency rose 1.8% in the second quarter. Private-sector foreign-currency loans grew 15.4% year on year to USD 8.639 billion, representing 22.9% of total system credit. Past-due loans increased to DOP 43.422 billion (+48.5%), lifting the simple delinquency ratio to 1.92%, and stressed delinquency stood at 7.49%. Provisions reached DOP 71.3 billion (+19.3%), the system solvency ratio rose to 18.4% (more than eight percentage points above the minimum requirement), technical equity totalled DOP 479.195 billion (+12%), and net profit was DOP 42.915 billion (ROE 18.3%, ROA 2.2%).
