The Central Bank of Peru published electronic payroll statistics showing formal employment continued to expand, with nationwide formal jobs up 4.8% year on year in January to November 2025, equivalent to an average monthly increase of 284,000 jobs versus the same period of 2024. Formal employment rose 3.7% year on year in November 2025, extending the expansion to 20 consecutive months and adding 230,000 jobs. Private-sector formal employment increased 4.7% year on year in November and 6.2% over January to November, while public-sector employment grew 1.3% in November and 1.2% cumulatively. November growth was 2.8% in Lima versus 5.0% in the rest of Peru; cumulatively, Lima was up 3.6% and the rest of Peru 6.7%. Within the private sector, the largest job gains in November were in services (94,000), commerce (37,000) and agriculture including agro-exports (34,000), with mining up 10.3% year on year.
