Bank Indonesia released its latest Business Survey indicating that business activity was maintained in the first quarter of 2025, reflected in a positive weighted net balance (WNB) of 7.63%. Performance was led by Financial Services, followed by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing, and Wholesale and Retail Trade and repair services, supported by the harvesting season and increased activity during Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr. Production capacity utilisation rose to 73.25% from 72.91% in the fourth quarter of 2024, mainly supported by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing. Respondents assessed corporate financial conditions as generally sound in terms of liquidity and profitability, with credit remaining accessible. Looking ahead, respondents expect business activity to increase in the second quarter of 2025, with the WNB projected at 15.35%, driven primarily by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing amid favourable weather, adequate production facilities and storage capacity, and maintained demand.
