The Commission for the Promotion and Defence of Competition (COPRODEC) within Uruguay's Ministry of Economy and Finance has opened a public consultation on a new Guide to the Economic Analysis of Economic Concentrations, which will replace the version published in December 2020 once approved. The draft guide was developed within COPRODEC, drawing on experience from authorisation cases since the introduction of prior and mandatory control for economic concentrations that fall within the scenarios set out in Article 7 of Law 18.159. The Commission also highlighted technical support and input from the World Bank and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), adapted to domestic market dynamics. Stakeholders can submit comments and suggestions by email until 13 February 2026 (inclusive).
