The Montenegro Capital Market Authority reported that its president, Željko Drinčić, spoke at the third annual international Pensión Conference, presenting an overview of Montenegro’s pension system and recent developments, including regulatory and institutional steps taken to modernise the system and align it with European standards. In the session on pension systems in selected emerging market countries, the presentation highlighted the adoption of the Law on Voluntary Pension Funds and the creation of a regulatory and supervisory framework intended to support the development of a third pension pillar in Montenegro based on voluntary retirement savings. The remarks also pointed to the role of international cooperation, knowledge exchange and technical assistance in strengthening regulatory capacity and improving pension market transparency; the conference programme covered topics including ESG investing, long-term pension fund investment and digital solutions, with speakers including Nobel laureate Professor Peter Diamond.
