The Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported that banking-sector assets rose 1.7% in June to KZT 74.2 trillion as of July 1, while loans to the economy increased 1.6% to KZT 41.9 trillion. The ratio of loans more than 90 days past due declined 0.1 percentage point to 4.1%, or KZT 1.8 trillion. Highly liquid assets totaled KZT 21.9 trillion, equivalent to 29.6% of assets. Business lending grew 1.9% to KZT 16.1 trillion, driven by a 3.3% increase in lending to small and medium-sized enterprises, while household lending rose 1.4% to KZT 25.8 trillion. Banks issued KZT 4.1 trillion of new loans during June, up 18.7% from a year earlier, including KZT 2.2 trillion to businesses. Resident deposits increased 4.6% to KZT 50.1 trillion, and deposit dollarization fell to 19.7% from 20% in May. Bank capital increased 1.1% to KZT 11.2 trillion, with core and total capital adequacy ratios of 19.7% and 20.5%, respectively. Net profit for the first half totaled KZT 1.196 trillion, down 13.3% from the same period of 2025, while return on assets stood at 3.7% and return on equity at 24.1%.
