The National Bank of Georgia reported that Vice Governor Ekaterine Galdava participated in the World Bank’s Global Payments Week 2025 in Brasília, using the forum to engage with international counterparts on developments and challenges in payments, including instant payment systems and the security of digital financial services. The event brought together representatives from more than 70 countries, including central bank governors, regulators and payment system experts, and covered digital payment innovations, improvements in international transfers, tokenization, cybersecurity and implementation of instant payment systems. Galdava held meetings with vice presidents of several central banks and with Daniela Russo, Principal Advisor to the Executive Board of the European Central Bank, focusing on instant payments implementation, risk management for innovative financial products and digital services security; the Georgian delegation also held bilateral discussions with the World Bank and other country representatives on regional approaches to enhancing international payments and regulatory interoperability.
