The Brazilian Superintendence of Private Insurance (SUSEP), represented by director Jessica Bastos, discussed on The Surety Academy podcast the draft SUSEP Resolution submitted under Public Consultation No. 10/2025, which would set rules and criteria for the development, structuring, marketing and operation of property damage insurance contracts in line with Law No. 15.040/2024, effective 11 December 2025. Bastos described the internal regulatory process as involving months of technical work across SUSEP to interpret the law’s innovations and translate them into SUSEP standards, including an initial phase aimed at aligning concepts across departments. She characterised the draft as a significant shift from the previous damage insurance framework, reflecting the law’s new contractual approach, and reported that the consultation received almost 700 submissions now being reviewed individually. On surety insurance, she indicated SUSEP may assess whether a dedicated set of rules is needed in a future resolution focused on that product.
