The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) issued a public scam alert following a report of fraudulent websites, fake internet banking login screens and phishing emails related to Dah Sing Bank, Limited. The HKMA also linked to the bank’s press release on its website. The HKMA reminded the public that banks do not send SMS or emails with embedded hyperlinks directing customers to banks’ websites to carry out transactions, and they do not ask for sensitive information such as login passwords or One-Time Passwords by phone, email or SMS. Anyone who has provided personal information or carried out financial transactions in response to the scams should contact the relevant bank using the details in the bank’s press release and report the matter to the Crime Wing Information Centre of the Hong Kong Police Force.
