The Central Bank of Cyprus published updated aggregated data on non-performing loans for the Cyprus banking sector with a reference date of 31 January 2025, showing a marginal increase in the non-performing loans ratio to 6.3% from 6.2% at end-December 2024. The non-performing exposures coverage ratio with bad credit provisions was unchanged at 58.3%, or EUR 0.9 billion. The increase in non-performing exposures at end-January 2025 was mainly attributed to negative movements in non-performing exposure categories and exchange rate fluctuations. Total loans of Licensed Credit Institutions that had been restructured by end-January 2025 amounted to EUR 1.3 billion, of which EUR 0.7 billion remained included in non-performing exposures.
